Water plays a cardinal role in socioeconomic development, and it is fundamental to sustaining all forms of life. However, social activities such as the availability and delivery of portable Water, agriculture, recreation industry and improved Sanitation Service are of vital importance to the Individual and society at large.
It might interest you to that the Water resources In Adamawa State are yet to be fully harnessed to meet these Competing needs. The situation has thus informed Governor Bindow led administration's decision to develop a Policy to create an enabling environment for full exploitation and harness of the State's Water Resources.
No wonder, during the last EXCO Meeting held at Guyuk Local Government Area last December 2016, the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Strategy Comrade Ahmad Sajoh while briefing News Men shortly after the meeting on the outcome of the meeting disclosed that the Water Policy was one of the agenda adopted in the meeting.
He said that the Policy will provide the present ineffective state of the Water Sector as well as proper positioning of the institutions within the sector in order to carryout their statutory roles and responsibilities more effectively and efficiently.
The Policy he said ,will also provide a comprehensive framework for sustainable development, management and utilization of the state's Water Resources, and promote safe sanitation practices.
In a Memo tittled Adamawa State Water Resources Policy written by the Honourable Commossioner for Water Resources Hon.Julius Kadala revealed that since the establishment of the State Ministry of Water Resources, it has been Operating without a State Water Policy, but was only relying essentialy on the National Legistlative and Policy Instrument.
Regarding Water Resources Development, Management and Utilization according to him will Involve all stakeholders including the private sector for the sustainable Development of Water Resources through coordinated Management and holistic utilization.
