Several months ago the country's currency has been on a weak line in favor of the dollar, making the economy to be in a downward slope, thereby skyrocketing the prices of products in the both open and close markets, a no go area to low income earners.

Only some few weeks ago, the Naira began to gain strength against the Dollar. Our correspondent in Adamawa State went on a marker survey to verify the prices of commodities to see whether the hike in prices of the commodities have come down or still remains skyrocket.

The survey revealed that most of the basic necessities products are coming down. According to a trader who sells bags of rice, palm oil and seasonings at the Jimeta modern Market, Mrs Nkechi Eze said that she used to buy a bag of rice at the whole price of (company price) of N20,500 Naira and sale it at the rate of N21,500 Naira to N22,000 Naira. But now, she gets it at N14,000 Naira and sales it at the cost of N15,000 Naira.

Madam Nkechi assured that the coming down of the basic necessities products is as the result of the recent strength of Naira to a Dollar. It has made her to sale a lot of bags than when it was at a very high price adding that the market is more lively with customers than before.

Mallam Isa Adamu who is trading on grains and other assorted consumable  was full of thanks giving to President Muhammadu Buhari for reviving the economy, revealing that he is over coming the recession inflicted on his government by the previous governments. And, Nigerians now are a bit happier than the past months he described as months of untold hardship.

"I'm selling very well now, before a mudu of Maize was costing 350 to 400 hundreds Naira and now is drastically coming down to 250, a bag was at the rate of 12,000 - 13,000 now as I'm talking to you I sold five bags today at the cost price of 9500 Naira and I do enjoy customers more than before. " He said.

I came across a buyer, Mrs Helen Zira who gave a general view of the prices of markets products.  She said it's a little bit better than before as the differences are not much and there is still a need for the Federal Government to ensure  the divergent of prices of all the products and to strictly control it.

Another buyer, Hajiya Zulai Ahmed who was to buy a rapper complained that nothing significant has change and to her, there are people somewhere responsible in the hike in prices of all the products, people she called the Buhari enemies are the ones frustrating his government in one way or other.

Muhammad Garbajo bitterly lamented and said nothing has changed, as Maggi cube seasoning use to be 2 cubes for 5 Naira but now is 3 for 50 and a sachet of pure water is still 10 Naira, it has not gone back to its normal price of 5 Naira and that goes other products.
