This was revealed by the HAG & Commissioner for Justice, BSD Sanga during a courtesy visit led by the Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria, Mr. Yassine Gabas. He led a delegation of International Donor Agencies to Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla at Government House, Yola on July 30th, 2018.
The Governor said his Government has decided to work with Humanitarian Agencies in order to provide succor to Internally Displaced Persons in the State and appreciated the efforts being made by the Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance by assisting the Victims of insurgency in Adamawa State.
Earlier, the Deputy Humanitarian Coordination Officer for Nigeria, Mr. Yassine Gaba told Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla that he was in Adamawa State to familiarized himself with the activities of OCHA in the North East. He explained that the major concern for OCHA is to ensure that victims of insurgency have recovered through the intervention from the Humanitarian Organizations had rendered, pointing out that his office has built a comprehensive response in Adamawa State.
He explained that the primary objectives of the humanitarian organizations is to focus on developmental issues by ensuring that Displaced Persons had returned back to their normal life in the insurgency ravaged areas.
Similarly, the HAG & Commissioner for Justice, BSD Sanga in a brief remark mentioned some key achievements that have impacted positively on the human rights situation of citizens of Adamawa State under the stewardship of His Excellency, Governor Muhammad Umar Jibirilla. These achievements includes;- the strengthening of Directorate of Citizens Rights of the Ministry in terms of office equipment and training of Lawyers. He said all the Lawyers in the said Directorates are Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. Citizens access the Directorate for mediation purposes and Legal Aid and that it has handled 78 cases, he continued.
However, the Bills will be forwarded to the Adamawa State House of Assembly as Executive Bills by the Secretary to the State Government, Engr. Umar Bindir for further Legislative action.
