The
National Information Technology Development Agency (
NITDA), has on 14th of this
month organised a five days training for
women in north east on information communication technology (ICT) in Gombe state university, Gombe, where 10 participants were drawn from
the 6 north east states of the country.
Each
of the participants were given a brand
new HP Laptop, a 3G Modem bundle and a hard copy of materials on ICTWhich
will guide them undergo a robust practical activities such as; computer
appreciation, Web design, ICT tools for business etc.
A
Staff of NITDA Dr. Abubakar Dahiru, said the training
is aimed at building the capacity of women on ICT as well as empowering them. He
added that at the end of the training each
participant will be given a stipend to
enable them venture in to businesses for self reliance.
In a welcome address at the training, the vice
chancellor Gombe state university, Pro. Ibrahim Umar, commended the organisers
of the programme for carrying women along in the world of ICT. He called on the
participants to cooperate and participate actively while receiving the training
in order to acquire more knowledge which will go along way in developing their
own personal enterprise so as to improve
their economic status.
Also,
the Gombe State Permanent Secretary Ministry for Women Affairs, commended NITDA
for adding value in the lives of women. He maintained that the agency has left
a remarkable foot print in the state as 200
youth and 50 people living with disabilities received a training on ICT by the agency.
