Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has held a meeting with all the 874 Principals in both Junior and Senior Secondary schools in Adamawa State over the implementation of Free and Compulsory education in all public schools in the state.

The Governor who invited the Principals and met at the Banquet Hall in Government House Yola, said that aim of the meeting was to discuss how to achieve successful implementation of both the free education and feeding programme in September 2019 when schools resume for new session.

He assured the Principals that very soon his led administration will send consultants to the various schools in the State to assess the dilapidating structures and facilities. Adding that, renovation on the schools will be done in phases and before the end of his first tenure in office the schools will be fixed accordingly.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri therefore promised the principals that the Government will study and implement must pressing demand they forwarded for consideration.

Eelier, the President of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals in Secondary Schools,
Adamawa State Chapter, Mr. Adana Ahmed Adumna applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for reintroducing free education and feeding programme in the State.
Mr. Adumna highlighted some of the problems public schools are face with to include decaying infrastructure, lack of motivational allowances to teachers and  upgrade of Principals from level 16 to 17.

The President appealed to the Government to facilitate the release of the West Africa Examination Council and National Examination Council  results for Adamawa State students who sat for the examinations in 2012.

Mr. Adumna further appealed to Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to establish office of Education Inspector General who should be a Principal in each of the three Senatorial Zone of the State. He explained that the inspector will help in supervising schools spread across the zone and report the situation regularly to the Education Secretary.  

Also in his welcome address, the President, Nigeria Union of Teachers Adamawa State Chapter, Comrade Roodney Nathan applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for prioritising the welfare of civil servants in the state by paying the 2019 Leave Grant.

The comrade expressed optimism that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration will bring a lasting solution to the problem of education sector in the state and promised that the teachers will complement the effort of the Government by committing themselves to the job.

There was session for contribution by the Principals on how to implement the free education policy in the State.
