STATE BROADCAST BY HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR AHMADU UMARU FINTIRI (ATM) ON THE EVE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS FRIDAY 6TH DECEMBER 2019.

Fellow citizens of Adamawa State I bring you fraternal greetings and best wishes, at this crucial period when the attention of the entire Nation is focused on Adamawa State.

In less than Twenty-Four Hours, Local Government Elections will be holding throughout the State.

I enjoin every eligible voter to embrace this opportunity to exercise His or Her franchise and vote the candidate of their choice.

In doing so, citizens should conduct themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner.

The peaceful conduct and success of tomorrow’s polls will not only be to the collective credit of the critical stakeholders, such as the State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) the Security Agencies, but to the voters as well.

Furthermore, elections are critical to deepening and nurturing the Democratic Process. It is therefore important to take up the task while conducting ourselves in the most peaceful manner.

On its part, Government has provided a level playing ground for all the political parties to participate in the Exercise.

The Government has taken every measure possible to ensure that citizens go out to cast their votes in the most secure environment, devoid of molestation or intimidation.

Politicians should play by the rules and not allow their interest to undermine security or hide behind banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping or use cross border and local criminals to disrupt the electoral process.

Let me therefore strongly warn criminal minded people against cashing in on our security challenges to forment trouble, and mar the elections.

I enjoined the political class to go about canvassing for votes peacefully and not to create panic, and raise negative passions.

Let us embrace the mindset that the road to power is through the ballot. We should therefore respect the sanctity of the ballot and the right of the people to vote the candidate of their choice without fear of intimidation.

Government is aware that some politicians who have not prepared adequately for this exercise are planning to create problems which will mar the elections. I have since directed security agencies to go after these trouble makers.

In this regard movement will be restricted from 8:00am to 3:00pm tomorrow except for electoral personnel, security agents and those on essential duty.

Finally, Fellow citizens, the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission has assured that it is adequately prepared to conduct this election, I therefore enjoin all stakeholders to support the electoral body to deliver on this assurance successfully.
