Adamawa State Executive Council has approved installation of traffic lights at eight different locations in the state.
This was revealed to newsmen after the third State EXCO meeting for the year 2020 by the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba.
Dr. Garba said that the EXCO has approved over ninety-five million naira for the installation of the street lights which is part of the present administration’s plan to beatify the state capital and ease traffic.
Adding that the contract was awarded to AFDA Technology Limited and they will commence the installation immediately at height traffic densely junctions in the state capital.
The spokesman explained that the locations which the street lights will be installed include: Federal Secretariat-Karewa Junction, Hospital Road Junction, AA Lawan Junction, College For Legal Studies Yola Junction, Bishop Street by Shopping Complex Junction, Government House Junction and Target Junction.
It was also disclosed that the contractor will take charge of the maintenance of the street lights for some months. And, should the traffic lights damaged within the guarantee period, the contractor will be responsible for fixing it.
Dr. Umar Garba therefore call on the general public to take care of the street lights so as to avoid the damages made on the previous ones and report any vandal to the appropriate authority.
Also fielding questions to the press, the Commissioner of Works and Energy, Hon. Adamu Atiku disclosed that the State has recorded success ongoing road constructions in the State. Revealing that the contractor handling Bachure road, BATCO CMC Limited is doing its best to finish the construction work within the time frame of the contract.Hon. Atiku also revelled that in next coming months the state Government will commence the construction of fly-over bridges at highly traffic densely areas in the state capital. Disclosing that the fly over bridges will be constructed at Mubi Roundabout, Total Junction and Police Roundabout all in the State capital.
