The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State chapter, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza has lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for given Christians in the state equally opportunity in his led administration and for sustaining peaceful coexistence in the State.
The Chairman disclosed this on Wednesday at the State Executive Council of CAN Adamawa State chapter held at its State Secretariat Conference Hall in Yola.

He appreciated Governor Fintiri for the equal opportunity been given to all religious groups when he came up with his appointments in Ministries, Agencies, departments and Parastatals. Adding, the appointments were done irrespective of tribe, religion and geographical location.
Bishop Mamza noted that Christians in Adamawa State have never have sense of belonging as they are enjoying under Governor Fintiri led administration.

He therefore thanked Governor Fintiri for the hundreds of appointments given to Christians to serve under his administration.

Bishop Mamza went further to thank Governor Fintiri for graciously identifying with CAN in Adamawa State and the respect he has for all Christians, he described it as a clear demonstration of humility and selfless service to the State.
The CAN chairman maintained that CAN in the State is happy to partner with Governor Fintiri’s Government “to promote peace and support good leadership, peaceful co-existence, inter communal dialogue and support aspiration for just and egalitarian Adamawa State”.

Adding, in as much as CAN is an autonomous organisation and independent of Government, it will deliberately collaborate with Governor Fintiri led administration to ensure peace, justice, development and progress in the State is achieved.

He assured the Governor of Christians’ prayer to correct the wrongs over the years  and for seeking to ensure equity and fairness in Government business.

Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza said that the meeting was attended by the five blocs of the state chapter of CAN, 21 LGAs Coordinators and the State Executive members, totalling 83 participants.

Responding, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said Adamawa State is known for its peace, he therefore urge CAN not to relent in prayers because of the peace, progress and stability the State have been enjoying since the inception of his administration while praying that this will rub off on the entire Country.

He regretted that today people think and act differently on issues of common interest to the growth and development of the nation as a result of the breakdown in their commonness and tolerance.

Adding that this, is expressed in the form of the identity related conflicts and hostilities, religious intolerance as well as high level of criminality leading to more violent confrontations across Nigeria.

“Our journey to Nationhood may have been rough, but our resolve should be a changing narrative of a return to being our brothers’ keepers as it used to be when the child belongs to the community, religion, tribe or creed didn’t matter, but your contributions to building an egalitarian society where all were stakeholders”, Governor Fintiri said.

“The peace we enjoy today is as a result of our Governments good thinking and mediation efforts in collaboration with groups and stakeholders like you working assiduously to unite the people.

“As a result, today those diversities that have made communities become deeply polarized and characterized by deep-rooted and intense animosity, mutual fear and stereotyping, driven by the dynamics of destructive persuasions that play up primordial perceptions and emotions, have disappeared.
“We will not leave any stone unturned until lasting peace is achieved in our State.

“Ours, is a Government on a mission to close the gaps and the missing links, to give every citizen his or her due and will not discriminate on any basis.

“To promote development and liberty for all, there must be peace and stability that can only be achieved under a regime of good governance, tolerance, harmonious co-existence and genuine reconciliation that we have promised to provide.

“Therefore, we refused to be distracted by any comment or sentiment, but are determined to make Adamawa great again” Governor Fintiri conclude.
