NEWS: MoI & Strategy to Partner with UNICEF in the State.

The State  Ministry of Information and Strategy is to Partner with  the UNICEF  in the area  of  public  enlightenment  and advocacy  to the  rural  villages  on Coronavirus  Pandemic  in Adamawa State. 

The  Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy,  Comrade  Umar  Garba  Pella  who revealed  this  when  he granted  in audience  the  Representative  of the  UNICEF  Chief  of  field  office  Bauchi  Mr. Bhanu  Pathak who  paid him  a courtesy  visit  at  his office  recently. 

The Information  Commissioner  assured NICEF delegation  that the  Ministry  will continue to support UNICEF with the  state owned  media  outfits in order to  discharge  it's  responsibility  effectively. 

Comrade  Pella  expressed  that majority of the   people  at the grassroots  needs to be  sensitised on the  strick  adherence  of Covid -19 safety  protocols  that includes  wearing a  face mask ,social  distancing and hand washing among others. 

He also  stressed that the  Ministry of Information  will do everything possible to  support  UNICEF  to achieve  its mandate by strategising  on massive  campaign  on Coronavirus  Pandemic in Adamawa State , adding that the  Coronavirus  is real. 

While  appreciating  the efforts of  UNICEF on its responsibility,  the Honourable Commissioner however said that UNICEF  had an important  role by kicking out  poliomyelitis  in Nigeria, stressing  that the fight against  Coronavirus at the grassroot  is timely inview of the effects  and dangers related to  Covid -19 Pandemic .

Earlier, the  UNICEF  representative  Chief  field  office Bauchi, Mr  Bhanu  Pathak  had told  the Information  Commissioner  that the delegation was in his office  to seek collaboration with the ministry in the areas of public enlightenment and  awareness  on Covid -19 Pandemic at the rural villages and commended the state government  over the steps  being  taken in ensuring that people have known  the effects and dangers  of the  dreaded  disease. 

Mr. Bhanu Pathak then called  on the citizens  to continue to  adhere strickly the covid -19  protocols by wearing face mask, social distancing and regular  hand washing in order to save the Covid-19 disease which  he discredited as the  basic prevention  measures in containing  Coronavirus  among  the people  in the society. 

He however lamented that markets and other crowded places are the main target areas of UNICEF to be sensitised  so as to reduce the risk of  escalation of the  disease.
