In continuation with the construction of new Cottage Hospitals and upgrade of health facilities in the State to provide both secondary and primary health care delivery services to the larger community of Adamawa, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has laid foundation for the contraction of new cottage hospital in Girei.
The Governor laid the foundation on Friday in Girei marking the fourth new cottage hospitals flagged off for contraction within a month in the State.
According to Governor Fintiri, the construction of the new cottage hospital is deliberate act of his administration to provide health care service to where they are required.
He explained that due to inadequate health workers in the state, his Governmpent is recruiting one thousand one hundred and thirteen (1,113) technical health workers who would be deployed to the front line of health security in the state for years to come.
The Governor noted that a vigorous provision of infrastructure and qualified manpower will immediately improve health care services in the communities across the State.
In his welcome address, the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Health and Human Service, Prof. Abdullahi Isa said for more than two decades of its creation, Girei Local Government Area has no secondary health facility. Adding that the people of the communities travelled to the State capital to access the Specialist Hospital or the Federal Medical Centre for treatment of ailment.
According to the Commissioner, a sixty-bed capacity will be built with all departments inclusive in Girei and will cost one hundred and seventy nine million, nine hundred and sixty five thousand, eight hundred and thirty two naira two kobo.
He urge the community to give maximum cooperation to the contractor so as to achieve speedy and timely construction of the hospital.
In their separate remarks, the Member Representing Girei in Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Mutawalli and Elder statesman Usman Yahya Iyajo thanked Governor Fintiri for his laudable projects across the State.
They assured the community’s support to Governor Fintiri led administration and called on the people to unite irrespective of their differences so as to move Adamawa State to greater level.
