The Commander 23 Brigade Yola Adamawa State, Brig. Gen. S.G Mohammed has partned with Adamawa State Agency for Museums and Monuments in developing the Germany Cemetery located at Dougerie Jimeta, Yola.
The Commander, Brigadier General S.G Mohammed disclosed this when the Director General, Adamawa State Agency for Museums and Monuments Alh. Abdulaziz Usman Duhu and his Management Staff paid him a courtesy visit.
Speaking earlier, the Director General, appreciated Brigadier General S.G Mohammed for availing himself despite his tight schedules and briefed him on the core responsibilities of the Agency and sought to partner with the Nigeria Army to see how historical and Cultural endowment an be well identified, discovered, preserved and documented.
The DG further said, in view of the developmental stride of this administration, the Governor has place a great premium on preserving and discovering of our cultural and historical endowment, in which he charge the Agency to vibrantly pursue it's core duties.
In view of this, the Agency's attention was drown to the German Cemetery and it became interesting to the Agency because of its value across broaders.
Lastly, Alh. Abdulaziz said any society that neglects history has no future, that is why the Agency term says " Museum tells our history while monument is our pride".
Responding, the Commander, Brigadier General S.G Mohammed welcomed the DG and his team and he commended the stride of the Agency.
Brigadier S.G Mohammad further said, the Nigeria Army is planning to build an archive on the historic German Cemetery, in which they will partner with the Agency in acquiring information.
Similarly he said, the German Cemetery belongs to the Nigeria Army and a survey is on going to document and find out the original layout of the site.
He also, commended the chief of army staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, on the establishment of the Nigeria army museum in Abuja, in which professionally trained soldiers are working.
In conclusion, the Commander,23 brigade said he is looking forward to partner with Adamawa State Agency for Museums and Monuments and he gave the assurance of making an archive of the cemetery and summit it to the Army Headquarters.
