The Hon. Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development Hon. Wilbina Jackson has Flagg off the distribution of  items for the benefit of 21,690 Primary and JSS learners in State, as the Government remains committed to doing more for the children’s education in the state.

The Hon. Commissioner expressed her delight as a mother to see the level of commitment of the stake holders that have graced the occasion to contribute their quota to the overall development of the children, protecting them from the deathly COVID-19 and supporting their learning at home. 

She on behalf of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri appreciated UNICEF Bauchi Field Office for it unrelenting support to the Fintiri led administration that has provided secured enabling environment for education to strive.

The number one teacher in the state, said the administration has matched words with action having ensured that quality education is not just free but compulsory for all school age children, despite the challenges posed by the COVID -19 Pandemic, the government is determine to sustain its commitment to ensure that the Education of the children is not delayed and the bold step taken by the administration as part of its provision of free education, also included the provision of conducive learning environment, Educational kits, Free Feeding, SSCE and prompt payment of Teachers’ salaries has already yielded positive results. 

She told the gathering that in the history of the state, 2020 external examination was the best for the students and very soon the Ministry and External examiners will gazette the result for the members of the public to see and verify.

In her closing remarks the Honourable Commissioner appreciated all Education development partners especially the UNICEF for its constant and credible Partnership, she called on other partners to emulate same. Items donated by UNICEF included:
2,169 MP3 Radio Preloaded with Numeracy and Literacy lessons.
2,169 large size rubber mats, each will accommodate 10 learners.
2,169 one (1) liter alcohol based hand sanitizer
21, 1690 UNICEF –ECW branded Face Mask.

Hon. Wilbina Jackson was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary Haj. Aishatu Abubakar Umar and Directors from the Ministry, other dignitaries were the Chairman Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board Dr. Atiku,   Hon. Japhet Kefas Member Representing Gombi constituency who stood in for the Chairman House committee on Education Hon. Batiya Wesley, while Hon. James Pukuma Chairman Hong local Government council represented ALGON Chairman Hon. Jingi Rufai of Mubi south Local Government Area other dignitaries at the occasion were Local Government Council Chairmen Education Secretaries and Divisional Inspectors of Education across the state.

The ceremony was held at the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board Yola, ADSUBEB.
