Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri gave the remark at the 2021 interdenominational Mega Christmas Carol and Nine Lessons organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State Chapter.

The Mega Christmas carol held at the Ribadu square commenced with the lightening of Christmas light by the secretary to the government of the federation Barrister Boss Mustapha.


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his deputy Chief Crowther Seth congratulated the Christendom for witnessing the 2021 Carol service acknowledging that Jesus is the reason for the Yuletide season.

He lauded Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza for his disposition of high level commitment as the state chairman of CAN, adding that Adamawa state government is appreciative of the mutual relationship and understanding enjoined under his leadership.

The Governor reiterated that peace and security remains the priority of his administration, noting that the relative peace and stability being witnessed in the state could not have been possible without their cooperation.


Earlier in his welcome remarks, the State Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria CAN who is also  the Catholic Bishop of Yola diocese Most Reverend Stephen Dami Mamza thanked the participants for finding it worthy to grace this year's  Christmas carol.

He said it is to offer praises to God in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ who brought about salvation to mankind.

The CAN chairman prayed that the birth of Jesus Christ will continue to bring about love,  joy, unity, peace and harmony among others.

Bishop Mamza also used the gathering to bring to the notice of Christendom that governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has donated ten hectres of land to the CAN for a new cemetery, appreciating the government for the gesture.

The Clergyman further revealed that the Christian body in the state has resolved that it will no longer collect any branded vehicle donated by either individual, organisation or politicians. He  encouraged Bishop, pastors and church leaders across the state to sensitize their members to register and acquire their voters card so as not to be disenfranchised during elections.

The Guest Preacher at the  occasion pastor Cosmos Ikwe District overseer of  redeemed peoples mission, Yola in a sermon tagged "Unto us a child is Born", admonished Christians to imbibe the spirit of love as examplified by God through giving his only son as a sacrificial lamb.


Taking scriptural reading from Isaiah chapter Nine Verse Six, the preacher said the birth of Jesus Christ is prophetic and purposeful, which is to deliver mankind from the bondage of sin.

He reminded Christians that a divided church cannot withstand a United enemy, calling on Christian community in Adamawa and beyond to work in unity.

The 2021 mega Carol drew people from far and near, including religious leaders, traditional rulers, politicians among other prominent personalities.
