The USAID State Accountability, Transparency And Effectiveness Activity has organised a 3 days training for staff of Adamawa State Internal Revenue Services on Tax Burden and Relief Management. At AUN Hotel, Yola.
The objectives of the training include ; teaching officials of Adamawa State Internal Revenue Services on how to implement the tax relief programmes for individual tax payers and businesses, to understand how to handle taxes, businesses and risks, to model structured tax relief and to adequately mainstream gender in tax relief programmes.
Declaring the training open, by USAID State Transparency Accountability and Effectiveness Activity, State team lead, Mr. Machill Maxwell, said ‘the training will enhance public communication between tax collectors and tax payers, to enhance effective and accountable revenue generation, it will ginger tax collectors to practice effective and efficient tax collection.
On day one of the training, the participants were trained on the following topics : The centrality of taxation in economic development, tax burden, and approaches for measuring effective tax burdens.
On the second day, the revenue officers received a training on: Analysing compliance behaviour, tax relief design considerations and basics of spreadsheets.
Consequently, on the third day, the participants were trained on ‘Basics of spreadsheet modelling and spreadsheets modelling of tax burden and tax reliefs using Excel.
Climax of the training was questions answers, and evaluation test.
