NEWS: Gov Fintiri Lays Foundation For Construction of WHO Standard Lab Complex

In order to have acurate diagnosis of patients and to stop referral of patients out of Adamawa State for medical test,  Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has laid foundation for construction of World Health Organisation, WHO standard public health laboratory Complex at the state Specialist Hospital in Yola the state capital.
 

Delivering his speech, Governor Fintiri observed that the world class laboratory will enhance the quality of the state medical practioners diagnosis. Noting that Adamawa has once experience the outbreak of epidemic diseases that include Lasa fever, cholera and monkey pox and the corona virus pandemic which has exposes the lack of diagnosing gadgets in the health sector.
 

He said that samples from suspected cases of ailments have to be transported to far places for testing which sometimes patients conditions deteriorated or lost their lives before the sample arrives the state. He maintained that when the laboratory is completed, it will check these lapses.

Governor Fintiri explained that the sighting of the Adamawa State Public Health Laboratory within the State Specialist Hospital is strategic and central for easy access by other feeder Health Facilities in the State. He assured that the logistics required for intra-State referral of samples for confirmatory tests will be available to optimize the Public Health Response to outbreaks and other health challenges.
Adding, the construction and supply of modern gadgets to the laboratory is a crucial step taken by his administration that will actualize the promise of improving health services delivery across Adamawa State as contained in his 11-point Agenda.
 

Earlier speaking, the Commissioner Ministry of Health, Prof. Isa Abdullahi explained that the laboratory will be equip with modern gadgets to World Health Organization standard in chemical pathology, microbiology, chematology and hisphatolog. He added that MRI and CT scan of 120 lences will be installed in the laboratory.
 

Also speaking, the Medical Director, Specialist Hospital Yola, Dr Dauda Wadinga said that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has align himself with the global best practice of equiping health facilities with modern gadgets while revealing that already, the Specialist Hospital have received consignment of two containers from the United States of America and four more are on their way to the hospital.
 

On his part, the District Head of Jimeta, Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Baba Paris lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for fulfilling his promises with Jimeta having the highest projects including the two first flyover in the North East while noting the effort of Governor Fintiri's security architecture that has dealt decisively with the dreaded Shila Boys cult group and other forms of criminalities who hitherto tomented the state capital and environment.
