The Adamawa State Executive Council in its eleventh meeting for the year 2022 has approved the renovation of ten selected legacy secondary schools in the state.
The meeting which was presided, Wednesday by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has deliberated and approved the phase one category of the contract. This is in line with the revitalization of the education sector as enshrined in the Eleven Point Agenda of Governor Fintiri led administration.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting at the Council Chambers, Government House Yola, the Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy, Dr Umar Garba Pella disclosed that the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration selected the schools based on their history and geography in the three geo-political regions of the state. And, the renovation work will give a conducive learning environment to students, following the employment of two thousand qualified teachers in the state to fill the vacuum in the teaching line.

According to the Commissioner, the projects were broken into lots and the total of eight hundred and eighty three million, six hundred and forty seven thousand, three hundred and twenty four naira sixty kobo (N883,647,324.60k) was approved for the projects.

He said, this amount was the fragment of over two point two billion naira approved in the 2022 appropriation bill for the renovation of delapidated schools across the state. Maitained that the Governor has already approved the renovation of some schools in the state which does not need the EXCO approvals.

He explained that the ten schools that will be renovated include: Government Secondary School (GSS) Shuwa in Madagali LGA, awarded at the cost of one hundred and four million, fifty five thousand, two hundred and ninety four naira, thirty kobo (N104,055,294.30k).
While GSS Michika will be renovated by Hamziyat Standard at the cost of one hundred and seven million, six hundred and fifty one thousand, four hundred and thirty naira, eighty one Kobo (N107, 651,430.81k); seventy nine million, seven hundred and sixty thousand, nine hundred and eighty-eight naira, sixty eight kobo (N79,760,988.68k) has been approved to Faro Construction Nig. Ltd for the renovation of GSS Michika; renovation of GSS Hong will cost ninety four million, five hundred and forty five thousand, eight hundred and eighty seven naira, sixty five Kobo (N94,545,887.65k) and Faro Construction will handle the renovation of GSS Girei at the cost of one hundred and two million, five hundred and fifteen thousand, nine hundred and sixty six naira, sixty one Kobo (N102,515,966.61k).
Others are, the EXCO approved the renovation of General Murtala Muhammad College (GMM) Yola to Kachalla Construction Ltd at the cost of over one hundred and two million, one hundred and sixteen thousand naira (N102,166,000); renovation of Government Girls Secondary School Yola was approved to Alhamsar Nig. Ltd at the cost of one hundred and three million, two hundred and forty four thousand, ninety seven naira, sixty one kobo (N103, 244,097.61k); GSS Numan got the approval of ninety eight million, six hundred and eighty two thousand, nine hundred and four naira, fifty seven kobo and GSS Jada and GSS Sugu will be renovates by Unicorn Construction Nig. Ltd at the cost of eighty nine million, three hundred and fifty nine thousand, seven hundred and forty one naira, sixty kobo (N89,359,741.60k) and one hundred and three million, eight hundred and thirty two thousand, thirteen naira, forty one kobo (N103,832,013.41k) respectively.

The Hon. Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr Umar Garba Pella disclosed that the EXCO has also approved the consultation services of three consultants to supervise and ensure the renovations of the selected secondary schools are done according to specification.

He said that the consultation  services on renovation work on Schools in the Northern Senatorial Zone will be handled by Mega Project International Limited at the cost of forty eight million, seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (N48,750,000) while the renovation work on Schools in the Central Senatorial Zone will receive the consultation services of Group One Dimension at the cost of fifty million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N50,250,000) and Al'amin Construction Nig. Ltd will provide consultation service to schools in the Southern Senatorial Zone at the cost of fifty one million naira (N51,000,000).
