Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off the construction of 32km Garkida-Dabna road initiated by the North East Development Commission.

While commending the Commission for its continuous intervention in the North East, the Governor said such projects will open up socio-economic activities in the area.

The ceremony  took place at Garkida, one of the communities ravaged by insurgency. 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Deputy, Chief Crowther Seth saluted the courage and foresight of the Commission in rebuilding and developing the insurgency ravaged communities in north eastern Nigeria.

He said he will continue to partner with the Commission in executing such critical infrastructure in line with his administration's commitment to the vigorous pursuit of its 11 point agenda targeted at bridging the development gap.

The Governor reemphasized that the project is essential, as it will serve as an alternative linkage between communities of Gombi and Hong Local Government Areas, adding that integrated national development can only be achieved through developing the rural communities.

The Member representing Gombi-Hong federal constituency, Captain Yusuf Buba commended the Commission for a job well done , noting that Garkida-Dabna road if completed will bring development and civilization to the rural dwellers, and as well, improve agricultural activities and security.

Earlier in a remark, the Chairman North East Development Commission General ,Paul Tarfa Retired, said the people of the area are known for their hardwork and active participation in farming and small scale businesses, hence the need for motorable road for easy transportation of goods and services.

Present at the event was the representative of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Chief of Staff, Government House, Yola Professor Maxwell Gidado among others.
