Adamawa State Governor, Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has assured to continue to identify and collaborate with Nigeria Polo Federation (NPF).
The Governor stated that the state will explore all the potentials with Polo Game to make Adamawa more economically and politically viable especially when it is hosting the International Polo Tournament every year.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said this Friday while hosting national Executive Council of Nigeria Polo Federation on a courtesy visit at the Council Chambers, Government House Yola.The Governor assured to make Adamawa State peaceful and safe by investing more in security so as to attract more investors to the State.
He appreciated all who come to support the polo competition in Adamawa, noting the contribution of Lamido of Adamawa HRH Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, for his continue support and promoting the game of polo in Nigeria and beyond.
Early speaking, the Chairman Nigeria Polo Federation Alh. Nura Sani Kangiwa appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the support he is giving to Polo Clubs in the state. Saying the support of Governor Fintiri made it possible for the tournament to be hosted in the state.
He pleaded with the government for continue support of polo while disclosing that for the first time the Fresh Air Polo Team, a team named after the nick name of the State Governor, is featured in the competition.
While highlighting the goal of NPF - to make polo more accessible and affordable to everyone, the President NPF stressed that in the ongoing Polo competition in Yola, top players from Argentina are participating in the championship.
He described the notion that all polo players are wealthy as not true, in spite the "game is for Kings". He added that not all polo players are rich.
Alh. Kangiwa said Polo Is one trending sport for tourism which can boost the economy if harness properly, while lauding Governor Fintiri for the peace existing in the state which allowed holding the ongoing tournament in the state.
The 2023 Nigeria Polo Federation Competion is holding at the Aliyu Musdafa International Polo ground in Yola.
The competition kick off on 18 September and will end on 23.
