Ten Councillors of Numan Local Government Council have retracted the impeachment notice served to  the Chairman of the Local Council Christopher Sofore on 8th, January, 2024.

The Councillors had unanimously signed and served the Chairman with the notice on grounds of financial misconduct and maladministration.

During a press briefing in Yola, the Councillors representing Imburu ward who doubles as leader of Numan legislative council, Nzashi Linus Tonmunongbaso said the Councillors have withdrawn the impeachment notice served on the Local Government Chairman, Christopher Sofore.

The decision to reverse the letter according to him, followed their understanding of the remote cause of the crisis, which he attributed to communication gap between the Executive and Legislative arms of the Local Government.

The Council Leader saluted the intervention of key stakeholders and other prominent sons and daughters of the Local Government, assuring that the wrangling has now become a thing of the past.

He however, reiterated that the council will never compromise the peaceful atmosphere, rather their interest is to work for the overall growth and development of Numan and the state in general.

It could be recalled that the legislative arm of Numan local government accused the Chairman on twenty count charges, bordering on Financial misappropriation and maladministration which according to them are contrary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's people oriented, transparent and accountable leadership.
