The  Commissioner Ministry for Entrepreneurship Development, Iliya James has received Management of the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme ADAS Programme on an engagement meeting in his office on Tuesday 27th February,  2024.

The Hon. Commissioner while responding to the delegation in his office, said his Ministry will cooperate and support the activities of the (ADAS) programme ensuring an effective team work.

James Iliya revealed that his Ministry will go along way towards ensuring the success of the programme, indentify registered and reliable cooperative societies and entrepreneurial enterprises across the state that will as well help boost the economic activities of the State and attract investors.

The Commissioner advised the management of ADAS programme to establish a well equipped demonstration center and sensitive the beneficiaries especially on the Credit Guarantee Scheme.

While highlighting the purpose of their visit, during the meeting the ADAS-P leader of the Delegation, the Chief Operating Officer of the program Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai, said the key areas of the partnership is improving access to finance within Cooperative Structures of the state and linking beneficiaries to formal financial institutions through it Credit Guarantee Scheme to access loan.

He added that they want to partner with Min. for Entrepreneurship Development because of it critical position in implementing the programme so as to support enterprises and the four subsectors they are working to improve includes: Crops & Vegetables, Livestock, Aquaculture and Forestry.

The C.O.O explained that ADAS is a Public Private Partnership program with 100b. Naira to be funded from the Nigeria Capital market.

Speaking, the CBN Northeast Zonal Coordinator Mahmud Nyako, stressed the need to have extension services as many states wants to practice similar programmes but are waiting for the outcome of the one in Adamawa state.

On their part, the Administrative Secretary, Joy Tarfa and ADAS-P Implementation Committee Ahmed Garba, urged the Ministry to critically examine the status report before the next meeting.

The meeting ended with an agreement to form a Technical Committee where all Stakeholders will be involved.
