Adamawa State Deputy Governor Professor Keletapwa George Faurata, has charged members of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) to ensure that the funds invested in to education sectors does not go down the drain.

The Deputy Governor, gave the charge on Thursday, during the Flag-Off and Disbursement of First Phase of GPE Grant to 23 selected Schools across the State.

Professor Keletapwa George Faurata, while addressing the gathering at the official Flag-Off she reiterated that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration is focused on prioritizing Education for the benefits of the future generation.

She emphasised that Government will not relent in providing a conducive learning environment for the school children especially at the basic level where they need special attention and care.

According to the Deputy Governor ,  schools at the basic level needs to be put into consideration, pointing out that these are reasons why several schools are considered for renovations and others for rehabilitation.

Profesor Farauta, said state Government in Adamawa is investing in education because the new greater Adamawa belongs to the next generation who are children of today.

She therefore, urged members of School-Based Management Committee to make judicious use of funds provided for the purpose intended.

In a remark, Commissioner in the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Umar Garba Pella, told members of the SBMC that the funds are meant for them to deliver on what is expected, especially for the development of education in Adamawa State.

Garba said, the grants from World Bank and other partners are meant to turn around infrastructures of schools across 21 Local Government Areas, adding that the project is performance based, while sustainability is hinged on how the state is able to deliver on this particular phase of the project.

He emphasised on accountability and transparency, stressing that Eight schools were earmarked for construction while Fifteen others are for rehabilitation in the grant disbursement year one.

He urged SBMC committee members to  judicious use the money for the state to build a very laudable policy and actions that would make the children take over in years to come.

In his remarks, Mr Michael Chinda, the State Project Coordinator GPE-TESS said the project is aimed at providing support to redefining the education sector.

For him, the smooth running of the project in Adamawa would not have been possible without the continuous support of governor Fintiri to ensure total overhaul of the learning system.

Highlight of the event was presentation of the grant Cheque to each of the benefitting schools by the Deputy Governor Governor Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta.
