The Adamawa State Executive Council held its fifth meeting of 2024, approving crucial spending to propel the state's infrastructure development. 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, chairing the council, authorised an additional 18.8 billion naira for the ongoing Yola superhighway project. This raises the total project value to 40.6 billion naira to encompass the broadened scope of works.

Following the meeting, Information and Strategy Commissioner, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kufoltu explained the reasoning behind the superhighway allocation. According to the Commissioner, the extra funding is necessary due to the project's increased complexity, guaranteeing its successful completion.
She further stated that the council approved the handover of the Federal Medical Centre's Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) in Hong to the Federal Ministry of Health. This expedites the facility's opening, benefitting Adamawa residents.

Demonstrating their dedication to empowering young people and fostering social harmony, Mrs Kufolto explained that the council allocated over 4.7 billion naira to finalise the ultra-modern stadium project alone Numan Road in the state capital. She stressed, the Fintiri administration believes this initiative will unite young people and promote peaceful co-existence.

Additionally, the Information and Strategy Commissioner disclosed that the council approved a 450 million naira counterpart funding contribution to unlock global health funding. Saying, the commitment will unlocks 15 billion naira in support and empowerment programmes designed to serve 270,000 women across the state.

Contributing, Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Emmanuel Piridimso, underscored the council's commitment to fiscal responsibility. He disclosed that the Council approved a prudent 18.2 billion naira budget for the remaining months of the 2023 financial year. This measure ensures Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) function within their allocated budgets, with supplementary budgets only considered under exceptional circumstances.
