Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has vowed to rebuild and modernise Yola Town market after a fire ripped through the site.

The Governor visited the market, Monday, in the aftermath of the blaze to offer his condolences to the affected traders and the wider Yola community.

Earlier, Governor Fintiri announced the formation of a government committee tasked with assessing the damage and identifying those impacted by the fire. This information will be used to inform plans for government assistance.

Governor Fintiri stressed the importance of cooperation from the traders. He pledged to commence rebuilding the market within a month, transforming it into a modern facility. This modernisation aims to enhance safety measures and prevent future outbreaks of fire.
While acknowledging the hardship caused by the fire, particularly during challenging economic times, Governor Fintiri assured the traders of government intervention to aid their recovery from their losses.

The fire represents the second time in recent years Yola market has been ravaged by flames, causing significant distress to the community. The Governor committed the government to finding a long-term solution.

Leaders of the market association, Ali Kachalla of the Gamzaki traders association and Umaru Sarkin Kasuwa, expressed their appreciation for the Governor's support and his plan to rebuild a modern market. They pledged their cooperation with his administration.
